Vitra
Panton Polypropylene
The Panton Chair, created between 1959 and 1999 by Verner Panton, is a classic in the history of furniture design. Originally conceived in 1960, the chair was developed for series production in collaboration with Vitra (1967). It was the first chair with an exclusively plastic design in a single piece without fittings. Since its introduction to the market, it has already advanced several stages of production. Only since 1999 has it been possible to manufacture the chair according to the original concept - in a durable material, plastic dyed with a matte finish.
The comfort of this piece results from the combination of a suspended structure with an anthropomorphic shape and a slightly flexible material. It can be used individually or in groups, and is suitable for indoors and outdoors. The Panton Chair has received numerous international design awards and is part of several museum collections. Because of its expressive shape, it has become an icon of the 20th century.
